02.02.2008 – 31.12.2008
This year Skagen Museum celebrates its centenary with a special exhibition where up to 600 artworks by the illustrious Skagen painters are hung in salon style. Normally, the museum exhibits approx. 150 works from its collections, but with the salon style exhibition, the artworks are hung close to each other, from floor to ceiling, thus enabling the museum to exhibit more of their collections. A salon style exhibition is completely unlike modern exhibition display concepts, where the paintings are often hung up to enhance the experience of the individual works. The 2008 Salon Style Exhibition has a chronological structure. This makes it possible to follow the development of the Skagen Painters and see which motifs the artists preferred to paint, and how they copied each other.
