Classification

A sign at the hotel entrance indicates that the hotel has been classified.
All Danish hotels associated with HORESTA which have at least 40 beds have been classified on a scale ranging from 1-5 stars. The classification scheme is based upon objective criteria, i.e. the presence or absence of a wide range of facilities and services. The number of stars is therefore not indicative of subjective features such as atmosphere, quality of food and service, location or view. If "Hotel Garni" is displayed on the sign or listed here on www.hotel.dk, it means that the hotel restaurant usually only serves breakfast.

No Stars
The hotel is a member of the industry organisation, HORESTA, but has chosen not to be part of the star classification.

The hotel has been classed as 1 star by HORESTA
The rooms contain the necessary furniture for staying away from home. There is a wash basin in every room and the hotel offers breakfast.

The hotel has been classed as 2 stars by HORESTA
The rooms contain the necessary furniture for staying away from home. There is a wash basin in every room and some rooms have ensuite bath and toilet facilities. Breakfast is offered.

The hotel has been classed as 3 stars by HORESTA
Every room has its own ensuite bathroom as well a work desk, TV and radio. The hotel offers access to a computer with internet access. Larger hotels offer non-smoking rooms.

The hotel has been classed as 4 stars by HORESTA
The general interior decoration is of a high standard. The rooms contain a minibar, TV with international channels and comfortable furniture. Rooms with internet access are available. The hotel contains a restaurant and the reception is staffed at all hours.

The hotel has been classed as 5 stars by HORESTA
Luxurious interior. All rooms have air conditioning, safety box and internet access. The furniture is comfortable and of a high quality. The hotel contains a restaurant and a staffed gym or indoor swimming pool. The reception is staffed at all hours.

Star Classification
Every star classified hotel is a member of the industry organisation, HORESTA. The classification is verified at least once every year to ensure that the hotels meet the requirements of their current classification.

HORESTA Guarantee
As a guest of a HORESTA hotel, you are protected by a special guarantee. HORESTA has developed a guarantee fund, which ensures that all decisions made by the complaints board for the Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism industry will be sanctioned.

Classifications criteria
Next to each criterion it is advised for which star classification the criterion has to be met.

Dispensation
In special cases where, for example, the building’s interior etc. calls for such, there may be dispensation given on individual points in the criteria. Such dispensation, however, will always require the official approval of the classifications council, and thus individual applications, as well as any required and relevant documentation such as protection acts or drawings, is to be sent to the council prior to the approval.
